The original idea of CTIC, some twelve years ago, was that of a Socio-Pastoral Center. But, as it often happens, the urgent and the immediate take always priority over other dimensions that require reflection, long range planning and careful follow up. The Original CTIC has been doing an excellent work at helping Migrants in the urgent and pressing problems of survival, legal and immigration problems, pressing marriage conflicts and the like.
As the needs of the growing foreign communities multiplied, the urgency and importance of long range pastoral accompaniment and follow up became more and more evident and Tokyo Archdiocese decided to open a new CTIC Center in Meguro. This Center has mostly Pastoral objectives, which, naturally, can never be severed from the general human situations and needs. Thus we are working now…

It’s been almost three years after the great tsunami had struck the northeastern part of Japan. I came here in Ofunato to help in the reconstructions especially in rebuilding communities for the foreigners. Yet after sometime, I begin to question if we are still responding to the needs or are we still needed here?
After almost three years, people are back to their work, factories are being built, new stores and shops here and there. Life seems to be back to normal. But I know for the locals life will be different after the tsunami.
Life will not be normal for me too. And I know i can only go on if I adjust to the present situation.

Survival skills in comedy bar
I don’t go to comedy bars since i came back last 2010 for my regular vacation. I cannot stand the sound and the noise of the area. (talking about being senior citizen?) no but i am used to the silence that my adopted country is giving every day.
Anyway, since i just arrive a few days ago for my regular vacation they invited me to go out. hmmmm . Of course its been years and i need to relax. They brought me to this comedy bar in QC and hell, i cannot say no.
I just try to enjoy and have a great time.
We know that comedy bars are not for people who take their life seriously. You go there to enjoy and laugh. Thats what their purpose. But if you just want to enjoy a night of loud music, best laugh without being laugh you will need these survival skills
- Never sit in front of the Stage. sitting in front of the stage would be a death sentence for you. its a warning, not unless you are in the mood for good laughter, don’t hesitate.
- dress well. or i say dress as you are. don’t wear clothes that will not fit you or else you will be a piece of joke for the audience.
- be ready and open minded. its not for the faint of heart and for those who take things seriously. play your role well when you were caught up on stage
so are you ready for another try? not me, i had my fill of the comedy bars. i need to have a good music and a relaxing night before i go home.

Summer is heating up and i need to make some plans on how to spend it wisely. i have exactly 50 days left, minus some days that i need to attend some seminars and some engagements and family events. Here are some of the basic things to enjoy you vacation.
- Read a really good book.
- Stay up late
- Go to the beach
- Learn cooking, the Filipino way
- Learn a new language, French or Spanish
- Spend a day doing NOTHING
- Watch really good old movies
- Watch movies you missed.
- Start a blog
- Have a gallon of ice cream.
- Have a taste of real Filipino Food
- Spend a day in a resort.
- Watch a performance of world-class Filipino artist
- Relax – have a good massage in a spa.
What`s your list of activities? Check it, if not you can use mine just for suggestion.

名古屋港訪船日記（続編ー８）01/09
名古屋港金城埠頭に5日に入った穀物運搬船を訪船した後、上陸したいとの連絡が9日
あり、8人の船員を迎えに金城埠頭までいく。この日、港湾も税関もきびしく。パス
ポートの名前の読み方や買い物の行く先その他色々聞かれ、税関ではボデイチエック
までありました。見ていてもあまり良い感じではありませんでした。それにクルー全
員が代理店との契約切れになっていてまだ更新がすんでいないとのこと。彼らは多
分、次港で下船し帰国するとのことです。
帰船するとき、ステラマリスに寄りたいとのことでした。祈りを忘れていなかったの
は良かったと思いました。

First Post for 2013

stop blogging for a while, making me feel guilty that i never use the medium to express my thoughts. But i made a resolution to start writing some of my thoughts for the day.
So here are my thoughts beginning this year
Since January I, 2013, I decided not to drink. a fete i myself found amusing since i love drinking. But i feel there is not way to celebrate so i just tried to limit my drinking from now on. On doing sports, i will try to do swimming again. Its been a while since i visited a pool and plunge myself. Love swimming and I know if i am inside the pool, my body will just go with the flow of it.
I am against professional jealousy especially with the nature of our work, but lets face feel lost after i went to Rome for sometime. Adjusting to the work here and all the schedules was just difficult for a while. At the same time, I feel my presence was only good as a helper. I am ready to assume leadership position and I will try to be ready if there is an offer for it after Easter.
My hope for this year, a better me and a happy me.

Ship Visit Update July 2012

1件報告しておきます。
7月1日（日）に名古屋港で停泊中に出会ったApollo Troth の船長の話しから、この船が26日大阪港で停泊しているとき、一人の船員が緊急入院したとのことでした。それで、早速2日に大阪のシスター加藤に電話し、行ってもらいました。それによりますと入院した船員は2AEのJulio Marmalejoで心臓病の疑いでＩＣＵに入り、手術をうけたあと、今は一般病棟にいるとのことでした。シスター加藤は堺の病院にいくために近くの教会の村田神父様と一人のフィリピン人の神学生との3人で訪問し、病者の秘跡を授け、家族との連絡などとれて、本人は大変安心し喜んでいたとの報告をうけました。特にタカロゴ語が話せたのは良かったようです。今後色々検査のあと体調がよければ帰国することになるようです。
この船は今度の船員の日に鹿島港に入り、鹿島教会に行きたいとのこと、その後横浜に立ち寄ってキムさんにも会いたいと言っていました。以前Yusho Cherryの船長時代に山手教会まで車で運んでもらったとか船長は言っていました。

ＡＯＳ日本の皆様
ＡＯＳ津波基金の支援者の皆様
2012．6.13 から１４日の 岩手県漁師さんのこども達及び、陸前高田市の支援について報告させていただきます。
３月岩手漁民組合との支援についての話では船のモーター（3－４台）、漁民組合と子ども達への希望がありました。その後対象者になる人数が少なくなるのでそれよりは漁業に戻られなくて収入がなくて子供を抱えている家庭を優先的に支援した方がよいと漁師さんたちで決めました。中学生以下の漁師さんの子ども最初は200人くらいになるだろうと予想したが実際に漁師さんたちが集めて作って下さった名簿には320名になりました。それでは一人当たりの金額が少なさすぎると言うことで漁民組合への支援もやめて、子どもに回してもらいたいと漁師さんたちからの提案がありました。そのような提案を司教さんと相談し今回残りの基金と事務局からの支援でＡＯＳ津波基金３，２００，０００円をお伝えいたしました。
６月１３日山田町にある福祉施設に山田町、大槌、船越湾、広田、越喜来、釜石等の代表漁師さんが集まって下さり、お金を分配し、みなさんの地域に戻りＡＯＳの代わりにお金を子ども達に配って下さることになりました。難民移住移動者事務局の封筒とＡＯＳ津波基金の紹介を書いた手紙も一緒に配られることになりました。漁師さんの中には対象者にならないし、奥さんの病気で病院の送り迎えが会ったにも関わらず、少しでも他の方に役立ちたいと言う気持ちで面倒なことを受け入れて下さった方がいらっしゃいました。
皆さんは生活が困っている漁師さんたちがいでも漁業組合もやってくれないことをしてくれたと何回も感謝の挨拶をしてくださいました。
漁師さんの家族の子供たちをお会いして話ができました。一家族は仮設に住んでいるお爺さんとおばあさんとその孫、
もうひと家族は子供4人を持っている家族で船を失ったそうです。
先月に支援した陸前高田のミサンガチームのプレハブを訪問しました。
プレハブの壁は白い紙や床はビニルシートを費用節約のため女性たち力で張ったそうです。看板や物置等も手作りでした。まだ水道と電気が通ってなくて、工事を依頼し6月末には通る予定で、太陽パンネールで蛍光灯１個とパソコンを使える電力はある。
魚の加工食品は別のミサンガチームがまだ準備中なのであり、他の品物は手作りのハンガータオルや、ヘアーピン、食器、カバンなどが置いてありました。今後は手作りのカンバン等を予定しています。場所は海に近い、周りには殆ど何もない所で、売上はまたよくないですが、女性たちの仕事を増やすため、商品開発や家でできるパソコン入力作業も計画してました。それはボランティアで来た印刷会社の方にお願いして開拓したそうです。ただ、まずは女性たちのパソコンの勉強が先でプレハブの中で教育する計画している、それとノートパソコンがまだなくて、それも課題であると言ってました。プレハブはボランティアや漁師さんが集まる場所であり、地域住民が来て生活の相談もしているそうです。
また多くの女性を雇える状態ではないが徐々に仕事を増やしたり、補助金など使える制度の情報をあつめ、利用しながらより多くの女性たちに仕事場を提供したいとリーダーの方が言ってました。特にリーダーの方の収入が少ない状況で夏からは港でのアワビ処理の仕事をしなくてはならないが、今の仕事が楽しいといいながら希望と意欲が満ちていました。
私の個人的な考えですが、みなさんがせっかく作った物が売れればと思います。今思っているのは もし教会のバザーで売るのはどうかということです。 陸前高田の女性が作ったタオル（300円）の写真をお送りいたします。皆さんのご協力お願いいたします。
